Hudson Valley Residency

The Hudson Valley Residency is dedicated to the art, literature, history and environment of the Hudson Valley.

Dave Conover, education director of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc., is the keynote speaker. Various scholars will present workshops in concurrent sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Sessions will include presentations about:

  • local writers through history (Washington Irving, Walt Whitman, etc.)
  • historical people and events
  • local art and artists
  • environmental issues.

Students will do a collaborative reading prior to the residency.

This residency is a 2 credit advanced-level study. Students are welcome to complete 2-3 credit follow-up studies with instructors who offer them.

The follow-up studies may meet any of several General Education requirements, depending upon the subject of the follow-up study.

There is a $60 residency fee in addition to tuition.

The residency is open to all students, with priority given to HVC students.
