Empire State College accepts nursing certification (generic) evaluations conducted by Excelsior College of New York. Evaluations represent recommendations of potential credit available for degree program planning purposes.
The certification must be current in order for the student to be eligible for credit. Students are not required to have any additional review or to have the credit transcribed on an Excelsior transcript.

An official letter on the organization’s letterhead provided in a sealed envelope is acceptable documentation. The letter needs to include the following information:

Credits: 4 (2 additional nursing elective credits will be awarded to students holding more than one CCRN certification (adult, neonatal, pediatric). For example, a student may be awarded four credits for the first certification and two credits for each subsequent certification.)

Credits: 3 Gerontological Nursing
Credits: 3 Hospice and Palliative Nursing
Credits: 4 Medical Surgical Nursing
Credits: 3 Perioperative Nursing
Credits: 4 (5 total nursing elective credits will be awarded to students holding both CPAN and CAPA certification.)
