Show at Teaching Gallery, 111 West Ave.
“Righteous within Circumstance,” an exhibit by graphic design student Rashida Anan Yelenik, has opened in the Teaching Gallery at 111 West Ave., Saratoga Springs, and will be on display through Dec. 14. The show is curated by Judith Belt-Smith.
The exhibit is an exceptional body of work comprising self-portraits representing narrative portrayals within the artist's circumstances. She finds inspiration in activities ranging from attending parties to looking out of her window. Her photography is not staged. “I try to capture candid moments within family gatherings or in the nightlife scene,” she says.
In addition to photography, Yelenik works in charcoal and graphite.
Her art is her outlet for self-reflection. She puts herself out on a limb in all of her compositions with very loved one portrayed and in every self-portrait. This show is her personal attempt at being discovered.
