Metro Mentor David Fullard Has Photo in Library of Congress Show

black and white photo of a girl dancing by David Fullard The Library of Congress will open its exhibition, “Politics and the Dancing Body,” on Feb. 16, 2012, to be on view through July 28, 2012.

Included in the show will be a photo (at leftt) by Metropolitan Center mentor David Fullard. The image is of dancer Thea Narissa Barnes in Martha Graham’s 1935 work, “Frontier” (1987).Following its closing in Washington, D.C., the exhibition will travel to the Library of Congress/Ira Gershwin Gallery at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, where it will be on view for six months.

Drawn mostly from the library’s extensive collections, the exhibition explores how American choreographers between World War I through the Cold War used dance to celebrate American culture, voice social protest and raise social consciousness.
