The State University of New York (SUNY) Faculty Senate and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges are inviting you to participate in a symposium of undergraduate research, “Boosting Innovative Exploration Forum: Undergraduate Research in New York State’s Public Higher Education System” in Albany, NY, for which students create and present a poster that describes their scholarly or creative work.
This celebration is designed to bring together some of SUNY’s most talented undergraduate scholars with SUNY Administration officials and members of our New York State Legislature and their office staff. The midday poster session will allow SUNY undergraduates the opportunity to present their research and creative academic projects to a large audience.
POSTER SESSIONS: are events where students present a full poster board that is a visual representation of their scholarly or creative work. Your print should be large enough to attract people from a distance. You can put pictures, diagrams, results and short descriptions (in large type) that spark people’s interest in your project. The idea is to generate interest so people will stop by to ask you questions. In addition to the research of scientific pursuits, the Committee encourages creative presentations and projects from the fine arts and technology. Video or live presentations will be considered as well as posters.
Poster descriptions and a faculty recommendation are due to Danielle Benedict at Danielle.Benedict@esc.edu by Feb. 13, 2014 at 5 p.m. The actual symposium will take place in Albany, NY April 1, 2014. Winning students are required to attend the event and some financial assistance will be given for travel.
Participating in this presentation project will provide contact opportunities with the many legislators, legislative office staff, and visitors passing through the Legislative Office Building as well as contact with fellow students from other SUNY colleges.
If you have any questions or are interested in an applying, please email Danielle Benedict at Danielle.Benedict@esc.edu for an application.
