The third annual student art competition was a resounding success and we hope to attract even more students to the 2012 competition!
What is it?
Students each year are encouraged to submit artwork online to be reviewed by a committee of highly qualified judges from across the state. Any type/medium of art is accepted for judging but it must be submitted as a two-dimensional image and be appropriate in content in order to represent SUNY Empire State College. The winning piece is announced and the winner honored at the annual Student Academic Conference. The art is turned into a poster to be used in various college publications and displayed throughout the college.
First, second and third place winners, as well as three honorable mentions, were determined by the 2011 committee of judges, including:
First place: Ivy Steven-Gupta’s piece entitled “Field of Flowers”
Second place: Rosanne Raneri’s piece entitled “We Travel”
Third place: Daniel Mosner’s piece entitled “Looking Towards the Future”
Rachel Sicherman’s piece entitled “Butterfly"
Paul Taylor’s piece entitled “Delicate by Nature”
Raven J. Wolf’s piece entitled “Nine Spirits”
