President’s Office Staff
.Dr. Meg Benke was appointed officer in charge and acting president of the State University of New York Empire State College by the SUNY Board of Trustees on May 10, 2012 upon recommendation of Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
Prior to her current appointment, Benke was provost and vice president for academic affairs, where she oversaw the academic enterprise of the college, which includes nearly 20,000 students, more than 1,200 full- and part-time faculty and an annual budget of more than $4 million.
Benke first joined the college in 1991 and has advanced her leadership roles focusing on collegewide programs and initiatives such as prior-learning assessment, online education and blended learning programs.
Benke holds a Ph.D. in student personnel from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science in business from Youngstown State University.
Benke serves on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York.
