Military and Veteran Educational Partnerships

SUNY Empire State College has developed strong partnerships to meet the academic needs of active military and veterans. In addition to GoArmyEd and NCPDLP, Empire State College offers online learning programs to members of the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and Army National Guard through its membership in Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC). SUNY Empire is a DOD MOU signatory, which affirms and supports the principles and guidelines in the MOU.

Partnership benefits include:

  • waiver of orientation fee in a degree or certificate program at time of submission of online admissions application ($50 for degree program; $25 for certificate program)?
  • a one-time, $100 Presidential Scholarship applied to the student’s first term of enrollment in a degree or certificate program. Note: Students must be enrolled past day 28 of the term to remain eligible for the scholarship.

Students must provide a valid partnership code at the time of application in order to receive these benefits. The code can be obtained from the designated representative at the partner organization.

Air Force

As an approved school in the United States Air Force Academic Institution portal, Empire State College offers Air University-Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) programs, Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) and non-AFSC-related associate and bachelor’s degree programs designed to meet the educational needs of airmen based on their military training and their educational goals.


Empire State College is an active member of the United States Army’s GoArmyEd program offering undergraduate and graduate degrees to active-duty, reserve and National Guard soldiers. In addition, the college participates in the Career Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) Degree Program, Enlisted Education Program (EEP) and College of the American Soldier (CAS), which are extensions of the Army Career Degree Program. National Guard

Army National Guard: (Little Rock, Ark.) The Center for Distance Learning holds a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Army National Guard and offers online degrees through the AutoDP system.

Coast Guard

Empire State College is a member of the Coast Guard Degree Pathway Program (CGDPP), and Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Degree Program (CWOCDP), offering cutting-edge degree concentrations to meet the needs of Coast Guard members across the globe. As a member of the Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP), the college offers NCPDLP- approved degree programs designed to meet the educational needs of sailors based on their military training. Empire State College is currently partnering with the Marine Corp Career College Program (MCCCP) to offer MOS-related degree pathways through Academic Explorer (AeX). NCO Degree Program of the College of the American Soldier

The Career NCO Degree Program of the College of the American Soldier (CAS) expands existing civilian higher-education degree choices to provide combat arms non-commissioned officers (NCOs) with college credit for specific NCOES courses taken throughout their careers.
