"Visible Effects" Photo Show and Artists' Reception April 24
Several SUNY Empire State College students will take part in a photography exhibit, “Visible Effects,” at the Regional Higher Education Center at SUNY Adirondack. The exhibit opens with an artists’ reception on Wednesday, April 24, from 5-7 p.m.
Classical music will be performed by student musicians attending SUNY Adirondack during the event and light refreshments will be served.
The Empire State College students taking part, Rich Cavagnolo, JoAnn Kellner, Jessica Matthews, Sandra Nordland and Rusty Riddell, are studying photography with cultural studies Professor Tom Akstens at the college’s Adirondack Unit.
“All photographs for exhibition were chosen by Dr. Akstens and me based on their compositional qualities, along with their varied photographic genres, which include editorial, creative and personal,” said Nordland, who also is curating the exhibit.
Nordland has 20 years of experience in the design of retail stores and displays, floor plans sign-making and custom framing. She is pursuing a degree in art, with a concentration in art in historical and cultural context, art history, museum studies photography and studio arts. She plans to continue her education with a master’s degree in historical preservation.
