(SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Sept. 6, 2012) The latest issue of All About Mentoring is now available online.
A biannual publication of SUNY Empire State College, All About Mentoring publishes essays, poetry, reflections on practice, reviews and visual art from the college’s faculty and from scholars across the country and around the world.
“It’s terrific to have contributions in this issue by more than 40 colleagues from all points of the compass,” said Alan Mandell, editor, and professor of adult learning and mentoring. “We want to include materials that reflect the diversity of practices, questions and activities of this global community of mentors. We want mentors who work with such a diverse array of adult learners to have an opportunity to share their ideas and their scholarly work with one another. It's really valuable."
The mentor is a distinctive faculty role and one, as Mandell describes it, "that incorporates the advisor, teacher, scholar, facilitator, resource and curriculum creator and academic generalist. " Because of such multifacetedness, All About Mentoring has become one means to acknowledge this broad array of activity in which mentors participate.
"We look forward to keeping the dialogue and the questions alive," Mandell concluded. "We hope others will find the material useful and will consider their own contributions, which are most welcome."
