The college provides a number of web-based learning resources for students. These resources supplement the assistance available at each New York state location, as well as provide support for online students. SMARTHINKING

SMARTHINKING (www.esc.edu/SMARTHINKING) is an online tutoring service that is available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They offer tutoring in the following subject areas: math/statistics; biology/chemistry/physics; accounting/economics/finance; writing/Spanish/Spanish writing.

Online Writing Resources

Online Writing Resources (www.esc.edu/WritingResources) is a web site that provides access to electronic writing resources developed by Empire State College faculty for adult students. It contains links to writing aids from a number of Empire State College sources in the following areas: academic reading and critical thinking, the academic writing process, research writing, documenting sources, business writing, grammar and punctuation, spelling and mechanics, and English as a second language (ESL). In each area, users can find annotated links to explanations, handouts and interactive exercises. Students can connect to the online writing tutor who can answer specific questions, as well as provide feedback on draft papers.

Online Mathematics Library

The Online Mathematics Library (www.esc.edu/MathHelp) provides links to web sites specifically chosen to support adult students in developing the mathematics skills needed for their studies. Students can find readings, interactive exercises, multimedia lessons and practice problems. Areas covered are basic skills, algebra, geometry, probability and statistics, calculus and discrete mathematics. Students also can find help in specific applications of mathematics such as social science, business and economics.

Career Resources

Career Resources (www.esc.edu/Careers) is an online career information center for students. This fully searchable site provides assistance in all aspects of career investigation and research. Strategies for identifying transferable skills and reassessing a current job with respect to greater career goals are presented. Students will find self-assessment tools to help evaluate skills, prioritize lifestyle values and identify work interests. There are also links to advice and practical skills related to the job search, the job interview, and the interview and salary negotiation process, as well as information on continuing education and career networking.

Optimal Resume (https://esc.optimalresume.com/) is a high-quality resume building program that provides student with the tools to create a traditional or video resume, as well as an online portfolio or web site.
