Social Studies Content Core
Candidates are expected to have completed study that meets the requirements for the subject area content core as outlined by the New York State Education Department. A major or the equivalent in one of the social studies fields (e.g., history, political science or economics) is expected.
For Social Studies (grades 5-9) and Social Studies (grades 7-12) the 30 semester hours of content must include:
- economics and government plus
- 21 semester hours in:
- United States history
- World history
- Geography
