Financial Aid Application Deadlines
The priority deadline is the date by which we must have received all data in order for the student to be reviewed and aid to be processed by the payment deadline of each term.
The priority deadline for federal campus-based aid including the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and federal Perkins loans, aid for part-time study (APTS) and Empire State College grants and scholarships is April 1 prior to the start of the award year.
The priority deadline for Pell, TAP, student loans and submission of the federal appeal form and/or New York waiver request form with the dean's approval and appropriate documentation to the financial aid office is six weeks prior to the start date of the term.
Please see aid for part-time study (APTS) for the APTS priority deadline.
Please note that to be considered for Empire State College grants and scholarships, a FAFSA must be completed for the appropriate year. Students who submit the 2016-2017 FAFSA by the April 1, 2016 priority deadline will be reviewed automatically for eligibility for the 2016-2017 academic year. Students who submit the 2017-2018 FAFSA by the April 1, 2017 priority deadline will be reviewed automatically for eligibility for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Financial aid files completed after the financial aid priority-deadline date will be reviewed. However, our office cannot guarantee that financial aid will be processed before the payment due date. A federal financial aid file is complete when the college has received valid FAFSA data from the federal processor and all other documentation requested by the financial aid office. Completed files and APTS applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students who do not have sufficient funding or payment in place by the payment due date may lose their registered classes for the term. To avoid registration cancellation, please apply early so that we may determine your eligibility.
