2007-2008 Bahr Scholars Orientation

The Morton Bahr scholarship, created in the name of Empire State College alumnus Morton Bahr, assists union members and other workers by furthering their educational goals and enhancing educational access through distance learning. Scholars are selected annually and receive a full scholarship to pursue their education at Empire State College.

Five new Bahr Scholars were selected for the 2007-2008 academic year. Richard Shorter, Stephanie Arroyo, Deb Gilchrist, Nancy Dauley, and Anthony Wright attended the Bahr Scholars Orientation at Empire State College's Center for Distance Learning in Saratoga Springs, New York. The new scholars were introduced to one another and to the administrative and support staff in the Center for Distance Learning. The one-day orientation consisted of community building among the students along with an introduction to the college's online procedures and courses. The new scholars also received success tips from Mary Refermat, Joe Dichiara and Linda Goddard, three of our current Bahr Scholars who volunteered to travel to Saratoga Springs on a Saturday to meet the new scholars.
