Jill Buban serves as Assistant to the Provost. In this capacity, she provides the provost’s office with support in the areas of research, grant writing, a variety of projects related to academic initiatives, and serves as the governance liaison. She also continues to teach and mentor for Center for Distance Learning as well as the School for Graduate Studies. Previously, Jill served as an interim Academic Area Coordinator at the College’s Center for Distance Learning. In this capacity, she mentored students, oversaw adjuncts, and created courses for historical studies courses.
Prior to joining Empire State College, Jill taught high school social studies in South Glens Falls, New York. She also completed contract work for Colonial Williamsburg and the American Council on Education; organizations which she continues to do projects for.
Jill’s professional interests include adult learning and, specifically effective models for virtual mentoring for emerging adults and mid-age adults. Jill is embarking on the dissertation phase of her doctoral degree at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
